This is the temporary cathedral built until the renovations to the original cathedral can be finished. There’s still a long way to go as it was heavily damaged.

We took a Hop On Hop Off today on the tram. We learned a lot from the commentary. Pretty well all buildings that were brick and mortar came down. Concrete buildings survived.
We went to the memorial which is done so nicely down by the river.
The quake happened in 2011. Twelve years ago and some businesses are just receiving settlement from the insurance company.

We did a quick 30 minute tour of the Art Galley before it closed.
This piece caught my eye.
We are catching the bus to Akaroa tomorrow. It’s about 1.5 hours outside if Christchurch. It’s supposed to be stunning scenery on the way and the town itself is on the ocean and known for dolphins. Weather should be good and it’s our last day in Christchurch.
