Off to Christchurch

Today we’re up early as we’re catching a flight to Christchurch on the South Island.

Flying Air New Zealand

While we are waiting for our flight we see a group of young girls that must be heading off to a competition of some sort so we asked.  They are called the
Buckingham Guards and they do competitive marching.  They are headed to the nationals in Christchurch.

I thought this captured my love of travel.

Leaving Napier.

Arriving Christchurch.  Our flight was just 1.5 hours.

After checking in we walk to downtown.  It’s a lovely day.  The symphony is playing down by the river in downtown.

It’s a beautiful day.  It’s so tranquil.

The Art Gallery.  A much more modern looking building.

We decide to go to the Botanic garden.  It’s huge.  There is lots of green space in Christchurch.

Trees!  I love them. This one makes me feel very tiny.

As we’re getting tired we decide to hop on board and do the tour.

The trees are amazing.  You can see how large this tree is when you see this child climbing in to it.

A lot of the flowers have finished for the season however we still find lots of colour.

We then go to the Conservatory.

The rose garden.

This is a gum tree.  We are given so much information it’s overwhelming.  The names of the trees and plants.  The history of where they came from and when.

Leaving the park we head off to the grocery store to buy something for dinner.

We come across a group of people with their dogs dressed up for a Pride Dog Walk.

After such a beautiful day it’s hard to believe there is a storm coming and rain and high winds are forecast for tomorrow.
