Great talent!

Tonight we all went to the Sunshine Cafe for some great entertainment.  So many great musicians and singers.  Great old tunes.

This fellow is the organizer.

This woman was so good at the blues.

Weekend on the Island...

It's been a while since I have visited with my friend Bev and I thought it was about time.  Bev moved from Victoria up island to Nanaimo and I set off on Saturday morning.  I decided to take bus to the ferry to avoid having to pay parking for my car.  I would go on as a foot passenger and Bev will pick me up on the other side at Duke Point terminal.

The 620 is the bus that goes to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.  I've just arrived and heading in to buy my ticket for the 10:30 am ferry.  There's a special.  Half price!  $8.75... That works.

Smooth sailing....grey skies but it's not raining!  Bonus!

Can you see the rainbow?  You have to look closely.  The sun is coming out..

Arriving in Nanaimo..

So colourful!  The shops are all painted great colours and Bev fits right in....we're exploring the town.

The yacht club right beside the apartment building that Bev lives in.  There is a paved walkway all along the water which makes for great walking.  Beautiful!  And look at all those kayaks!  We're going to have to rent/borrow those this summer.

A woman is creating huge bubbles much to the delight of children nearby.

We then have brunch at the Modern Cafe which really isn't modern at all.  Rather funky, warm and comfortable.  Good food, good service.

We couldn't have asked for better weather.

There was a small dog show as a fundraiser for the SPCA.  This cutie was one of the entries.

The next day we had brunch at Two Chefs which was another great Cafe.  We did a little shopping and relaxed that evening watching Netflix.

And home again, home again jiggity jig!  Bus back to White Rock was pretty easy.  Took about an hour.

Fundraiser hockey game!

Today I attended a hockey game between the Firefighters (known as The Smoke Eaters) and Peace Arch Hospital.  The proceeds are going to the Peace Arch Hospital Emergency.

It was a great game.  A lot of fun.

What good sports they all were.

Rob, Rob, Mike and Jodie keeping the bleachers warm!

it's March and it's snowing!

This is one of our longest and coldest winters.  Here it is March and we're still experiencing snow and colder than normal temperatures.

Housesitting in Vancouver and it's still coming down. Brrr!  The ski hills are doing a booming business.

Lucky for this little bird the bird feeders are kept full.
