My vacation comes to an end…

On our last night in Puerto Morelos we go to Taninos for dinner.

Lovely restaurant.

Food was amazing.  Best meal in Puerto Morelos.

Live entertainment rounded off a perfect evening.  Adios Puerto Morelos.  I’m headed home and Bev is going back to Isla Mujeres until Jan 29th.

Happenings at the Beach

Due to an increase in seaweed due to global warming they have this gigantic machine that scoops it up.

Then it’s brought down the beach and loaded into dumpsters (the large white box) and taken away.  Lots of work but it’s keeping the beaches pristine.

There’s also a large military presence.  They patrol the beach and drive around with guns showing.  I believe it’s a show for the cartels in this area.  ðŸ˜¬

A nice dinner at Punta Corcho overlooking the plaza

Lovely plaza. Great meeting plaza.  We sat eating our ice cream here many times.

The next morning we decide to treat ourselves to breakfast and found a lovely place called Belleville.  It’s a bakery/cafe and feels very French.  They have single eggs Benedict which was the perfect amount.  Delicious!

Then back to the beach.  Another perfect relaxing day!

Day at the beach

Enjoying an ice cold margarita at Don’s which is very close to our place on the beach

We ordered chicken wings, salad, BLT and guacamole and chips.  That was the extent of our diet today.

Then the drumming and entertainment starts..

Can I bring him home?

The weather is clearing

Hammocks are outside our room. It’s lovely and cool after a day on the beach.

This crocodile mural is just at the end of our road.

A very unique B&B. Owned by an architect.  I would love to see the insides.

Our little pool area. Everything looks different at night.

Heading in to town for dinner.

They’re starting to decorate the town square for Christmas.

Down at the beach we find a market with things to buy and the town Christmas tree.

We stop at El Chimi Churri for pizza. So good. This will be a couple of meals.

Puerto Morelos arrival

Laura drives us to our next accommodation which is Amar. This is a family run B&B with only 11 units.

Very colourful.  We’re living in Hobbitville!

Nice and spacious.  Well equipped with small kitchen and a fridge which will be lovely.

In between cloud bursts we make our way around town.  Pretty stormy skies.

We pick up some groceries.

An example of workplace safety in Mexico!

It’s a very long beach.  Great for strolling and once the rain subsides and the sun comes out it will be bustling.

Off to Puerto Morelos

We’re checking out today and catching the ferry over to Cancun.

It’s been raining and windy through the night but luckily the sea has calmed for our ferry ride.

So lucky that the rain held off until we arrive on the mainland and then the skies open!

Soaked to the skin!  Laura, our driver, is there to pick us up. The streets are flooded but we push through.

We go for a bite to eat.  My cappuccino looks lovely…

And so does our yogurt and granola however due to tummy issues mine didn’t stay down. 🤮

Going snorkeling

Today after our morning walk we are going to go snorkeling.

Lovely tile work…I’m trying to do my Vanna White thing and it’s not going well. 😂

Some cool art statues!

We took a taxi to the south end of the island and found this across from the Joint.

Nice small beach.  We have lounge chairs, food and snorkel rentals. Everything we need.

About to search out Nemo…

Can you spot the iguana?  Pretty good camouflage!

As we leave the snorkel beach we decide to have something to eat at The Joint and listen to music.  Nice atmosphere.  We then catch a taxi and head back up island.
