The walk of shame

We leave Zurich.  It was a lovely apartment but we have to move on.  We take the train to the main station where we get our train to Lauterbrunnen.  There are three legs to this journey and the first is Zurich to Bern.  This takes about one hour.  It was a very long train and I felt that if we boarded in the middle we would not have to worry about first class.  Well it backfired because after we boarded and found seats I look up to discover that we have indeed boarded the first class cars.  I must be drawn to what I feel is my place.  The fact that there was lots of room should have given it away.  Anyhow, the train is pulling out and it’s too late to change so we settle in and keep our fingers crossed that we aren’t asked for our tickets before we get off.

So enjoying first class travel....what a Diva!  Anyhow long story short the conductor does come along and he’s not listening to our excuses and it’s off to the ‘blue seats’ for us.  We had to walk through four other cars of first class passengers before we arrived at the ‘blue seats’.  A very crowded, less impressive area.  😩 So embarrassing!

We then travel from Bern to Interlaken where we change trains again and finally arrive in Lauterbrunnen.  A lovely small Swiss village which is what we have imagined.

The main train station.

Our home while in Lauterbrunnen.

Notice those gorgeous mountains in the distance?  Wow!

Beautiful valleys with chalets sprinkled over the landscape.  You almost expect to see Heidi emerge from one and start yodelling.

Gorgeous!

We then go to a local restaurant for dinner and I tuck in to a massive portion of schnitzel.  It was so good.  We then walked back to our chalet and call it a day.  Tomorrow we are off to explore these Alps.
