Day Tour to Neuschwanstein Castle

I’m up early as I have to be at the Munich Central Station to meet the group going to Neuschwanstein Castle.  It’s a gorgeous day and I feel so fortunate to have good weather for this trip.

Driving along we pass this beautiful field filled with sunflowers and some sort of purple flower.

Beautiful country..

Lunch is Bratwurst on a bun and then it’s time to go up to the castle.  King Ludwig awaits...

Our tour guide Jova is excellent....he tells us the story of King Ludwig in episodes as we continue our tour.  Was the king crazy or just eccentric?  Or maybe a genius ahead of his time?

This picture is taken from below.

This one from above.

It really is amazing...Walt Disney and his wife visited the castle and three years after his visit he created the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty based on this castle.

The views are amazing.  I am standing on Mary’s bridge looking over towards the castle.

This was the castle that King Ludwig grew up in.

If you look closely at the top of the photo you can see the bridge where I was standing.  It’s waaaaayyyyy....up there!  Not for the faint of heart.

The view from the castle was amazing!

After returning from the castle I walk to the lake.  It’s very pretty.  Lots of people as the day is gorgeous.

And I finish the day with a beer courtesy of King Ludwig.
