We head out of Athens and cross the Corinth Canal which divides the Peloponnesus from the mainland.
Our first stop is Epidauros. There is a well preserved amphitheater here. We do a test clapping our hands as a group in order to show the amazing acoustics of the theatre. Back in the day there was a stage at the front.
Our tour guide Stephanie is a wealth of information. She is amazing.
These red poppies appear here and there. Beautiful.
There is also a small museum here but most of the items are restorations.
We then drive to the most gorgeous seaside town. We only have an hour to explore and I wish we had days. The shops and restaurants are so inviting.
The town is Nafplio.
We then go to lunch at a place that is set up for handling bus tours. The food is okay but nothing to write home about.
O
We then head to Mycenae which is a World Heritage site. These are amazing ruins set up on the hillside. The Mycenae culture dominated the Eastern Mediterranean from the 15th to 12th centuries BC.
The entrance to a tomb. This was conical in shape and in really good condition. Amazing.
We then leave the site and head to our hotel.
Flowers growing along the wall.
This is a chain of 4 star hotels that are really nice.
The view from our room. Off to bed as these days are busy.
