Sydney

We arrive in Sydney at 5:30 pm and try to acquaint ourselves with the train system so we can make our way to our Air B&B in town.  It’s always a challenge and we realize it’s not cheap in the big city.  We drop $50 and load the Opal card which is good for trains, buses and ferries.

We hop the train to Central Station which is only 600 m to the apartment but as so many Air B&B’s it isn’t easy.  I was given a 4 digit code for the lock box but when we get there we have no way of getting in the building.  Long story short I call the owner and thank heaven she answers.  Turns out Air B&B was supposed to send me more instructions for getting in the building but I never received them.

Here is the lock box....found hanging on this fence outside of the convenience store located around the corner from the apartment..of course it is!

Nice small studio apartment...good location even though it looked dodgy the first night...nothing usually looks terrific in the dark the first night somewhere strange.  The next day everything appears brighter.

The sun is out as we hop the train at Central Station and ride three stops to the Circular Quay where it seems everything is happening.  We hop a ferry and on the way out in the harbour there is the Opera House!

Another stop on the ferry.  Luna Park.

Sydney Bridge...we will walk over this.

The harbour area is just beautiful.  Great restaurants.

This fellow is playing the keyboards down at the harbour.  It’s a beautiful evening.  We head off to an area called the Rocks.

This area is all about the first settlers.
And of course some were criminals.
There’s a German beer garden complete with music!  We go to a lovely Italian restaurant for happy hour and have a drink and bruschetta and then head home to rest our weary feet.
