Rockingham Beach

It’s our last day in Wellard.  It’s been a lovely housesit.  The pets are lovely and so is the home.  Wish we could stay longer.  We head up to the pub (The Well) for their special of cake and coffee for $5.  We have New York cheesecake and a flat white.  What a deal for $5!

We then drive to Rockingham Foreshore.  It’s only about 15 minutes away and what a beautiful spot.

Snakes???  Nobody said anything about snakes....at the beach?

It’s a hair day!

We leave Rockingham (hope to go back in a week or two) and drive to Perth.  We drop the rental car off (Whew! That’s a relief) and take the bus to our favourite hotel, The Duxton, for one night.  We drop our suitcases and decide to go for dinner at an Italian restaurant, Ciao Italia, in South Perth that was recommended by the fellow driving the shuttle for the airport.

We walk to Elisabeth Quay where we hop the 15 minute ferry to the other side.  We pass these two birds at a lovely park as we are walking to the restaurant.  It’s longer than we thought and after about 30 minutes we find the restaurant and IT’S CLOSED!  It’s Sunday and we even asked the concierge to check to make sure it’s open.  Apparently their website said it was open.  So we head down to a lovely path running along the water where there’s supposed to be another restaurant.  We find it and IT’S CLOSED!  We’re really hungry so we head back to the ferry (we’ve been walking for over an hour now) and find a restaurant on the water that is very busy.  We manage to get a table but the food is $$$$ and service is slow.  The last ferry is 09:45 so we leave there and go to the pub/restaurant.  It’s a little dicey but the food was okay.  We make the ferry and walk back to the hotel.

It’s lovely seeing the lights of Perth.

Back to the Duxton where we discover a loud music concert in full swing next door at the Concert Hall!  Ear plugs!  Off to bed as we’re up early to catch the bus to the airport for our flight to Sydney at 10:35 a.m.
