Gander

This morning we leave Cow Head for Deer Lake where we drop off a few of our group.  Small airport there.  We then head to Gander.

It’s quite stormy along the way with a bit of rain.

We arrive in Gander and stop into Town Hall where we get to speak to a man who was present during the 911 landing of 42 planes at the Gander Airport back on September 11, 2001.

This is the memorial.  We are told the large granite rock represents Newfoundland (the Rock) and the metal piece is from one of the towers from 911 commemorating the loss of life from the Bethpage Fire Hall in New York who lost 85% of their members.

We only have one night in Gander so tomorrow we are off to Twillingate.

The Queen was here using the facilities.
