Clarenville/Twillingate

This morning we enjoy a scenic drive along the rocky coast of Notre Dame Bay to Twillingate

Lupines at the side of the road is a common sight but always pretty.

Dave has created this museum full of momentos of fishing.  His father had the place before him and Dave is trying to preserve a way of life.  It was so interesting.  Could have spent hours there.

This work table is used for cleaning fish.  We were shown how to clean and flatten Cod.  The bucket contains the cod liver oil which is extracted.

Musical instruments of Newfoundland.

At the back of a house you can see their Root Cellar for storing vegetables for the winter.  Since they don’t have basements there are cellars built above ground.

Stopping at the Long Point Lighthouse.

Fishing fleet

Finally a large iceberg…we were so excited.  You never know when you’ll see one.  The next day this iceberg calved and half of it just broke off and disappeared in the ocean.

When pictured beside a house it provides perspective on the size of the iceberg.
