This morning we are to go out on the Western Brook Pond by boat. This is a land locked fiord. The boats await.
The boats are waiting for the clouds to lift. The weather looked good however there is low cloud sitting on the water creating zero visibility.
Colourful bunch waiting to hear whether the boat will go out or not. The problem is the weather. It is socked in with limited visibility so we waited around to see if it cleared but unfortunately it got cancelled. Very disappointed.
Caribou hooves are like snowshoes! Amazing! On the way back to the bus we stop for a few pictures. We got our steps in though. 2.5 kms each way!
Bunny hiding in the grass.
Looks clear now but down by the water it is limited visibility. We will do alternative things.
First we stop at Sally’s Cove where they are bringing in their catch of lobsters. Lobster season is ending in two days.
Lobster traps.
The boat is hauled up over planks of wood where the fishermen offload the lobster traps.
Rather misty out so you can barely see the lighthouse and the lighthouse keepers house.
Rocky Harbour
Bonnie Bay at Norris Point
Norris Point
Ice cream at Norris Point
Gros Morne Mountain
This evening we have lobster dinner.
Delicious but so messy!
We finish the evening with a theatre production. A very talented musician playing several instruments and singing old songs passed down from generation to generation.
