We wake at 7:30 to a knock at our door. The breakfast we had ordered last night has arrived. It’s wonderful to have breakfast in bed this morning. The sea is rough and it was a bit of a rough night.
We finish breakfast, get dressed and go exploring. So many shops and services but the ship is midsize so not too bad. At 9:15 we go to the theatre to listen to someone talk about Japan and describe our next two stops. We have a tour booked for Kagoshima and the Kamikaze Museum tomorrow and then one booked for Monday in Nagasaki.
We go to the cafe for lunch and it’s very busy. Hard to find a seat. We had booked a complimentary skin treatment at the spa at 1:00 but cancel as Marlene isn’t feeling well due to the rough seas. We find two lounge chairs in the Solarium, grab a blanket and ride it out.
We have dinner reservations at the Metropolitan Dining Room and it’s dress up night. Everyone is supposed to wear their finest. Well…I left my tiara at home so I’ll have to make do with something from my suitcase. It’s still quite chilly so the summer things I brought aren’t doable. We sit at a table for six. A couple from Victoria, B.C., one from Sydney, Australia, one from Melbourne, Australia and one from Suffolk, England. Enjoyable chatting and the dinner was good. I chose escargot to start, Hake fish for main and crème brûlée for dessert. A glass of red wine topped it off. We go to the main theatre at 7 pm for the evening performance by The Cover Girls who perform music from the 40’s to 60’s.
They’re really good. Then it’s off to bed as we have our tour tomorrow in Kagoshima.
