Off to Cape Breton

We take the ferry over the Northumberland Strait from Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia to head to Cape Breton, the Scotland of North America.

Bras d’Or Lake.  We board our sightseeing boat.

Poor picture but this is Alexander Graham Bell’s estate.

We’re staying at the Inverary Resort on Baddeck Bay.  Very nice place.

Then we visit the Alexander Graham Bell museum. Amazing man and also his wife Mabel Gardiner Hubbard.  Very intelligent forward thinking woman. 

Bell was known for a lot more than the telephone.  Fascinating!

Then we start up the Cabot trail which winds around the rocky splendor of Cape Breton’s northern shore.

Beautiful green rolling hills.

We pass the Acadian community of Cheticamp 



We stop at Flora’s for a little retail therapy

Here we meet “The Happy Hooker”.  She hooks rugs, wall hangings, etc.



The road is very windy and offers unforgettable vistas of Cape Breton’s rugged coastline.
