We’re up early and on the road by 8:00. It’s a beautiful morning. The countryside is beautiful but due to Cyclone Gabriel we continue to have delays on the road. What should only take five hours driving turns into eight hours. We were driving south from Paihia when the highway ends and we have to back track to Waipu in order to detour. We decide to gas up and have a coffee.
We find a lovely coffee shop and enjoy coffee and a snack.
We pass another lovely beach and then motor on. Coming into Auckland the traffic comes to a stand still. It takes a while before we get going. We arrive in Rotorura at 4:30. Long day.
