First day in San Francisco

After picking up some groceries for the week we eat lunch and head into San Francisco on the BARD.  As we disembark at Embarcadero we see a trolley. It’s time to take a ride!

This hill is much steeper than what it appears.  Heading up California Street.

We pass by the entrance to Chinatown.

Heading down Powell Street towards Fisherman’s Wharf

During the Prohibition this building housed one of the city’s most important speakeasies.  It was called Amelio’s.  Clark Gable and Carole Lombard rendezvoused in the upstairs dining room.  Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe enjoyed their wedding dinner here and the Kennedy’s were frequent guests.  



The buildings are beautiful.

Back home Raggy, the rag doll cat (who we are looking after) was waiting patiently for our return.
