Exploring Vancouver Island

I have decided that I want to explore more of my own country, starting with British Columbia.  Canada is a very large country so I have to chip away at this a bit at a time.  I chose a circle route on Vancouver Island starting from Tsawassen Terminal in Delta and heading to Nanaimo.
Once we arrive in Nanaimo we head inland stopping in Parksville for a quick picnic lunch and take in the sandcastle competition.

We then stop at Coombs.  I think everyone travelling this route has to check out the store with the goats on the roof.  The store also has an amazing variety of goods for sale.  Well worth a browse.

See that goat way up on the roof?  He was trying to stay in the shade as it was pretty hot this day.
Then on the road again with our next stop at Cathedral Grove.  So many beautiful trees.

Beautiful walk through old growth.
Look up!  Look way up!
Another stop on our way to Tofino at a popular swimming hole.  People were jumping off the rocks.
We arrive at our B&B at Jarmos' in Tofino.  We head for dinner at the Ice House which is just a short walk from the B&B.  Great location.
Some mist in the distance.
We splurge on our first dinner.  Martinis to start as we sit on the deck and enjoy the view.
The best calamari and clams.  So good!
And so ends our first day of our island exploration!
