We also pass a large brewery where Budweiser beer is made. This is actually the home of Budweiser beer. According to a survey every resident in this area consumes over a liter of beer a day. That includes even babies! That's a lot of beer but it is very fresh and low in alcohol so very common to drink. Goes back to the days when water was not safe to drink so beer and wine were the beverages of the day.
We meet our local guide and proceed to the castle on the hill.
This castle has incredible art, tapestries and weapons. One thing I found interesting is that at one point they started using radiant heat. There were these large ceramic type boxes in the corner of the room which contained a fire that was stoked. They provided heat to the room where they were located. Must have been quite an improvement from the large, smokey fires used to heat the castles in the past.
We then go to the local "jail" for lunch. This was unique but rather warm where we were sitting in the back of the building. I had a lovely fresh trout while others had pork chops. These were cooked on an open fire grill.
We then explore town on our own and there are many picturesque photo opportunities.
And of course we have to keep the stats up for this region and consume our quota of beer for the day!
Around 3:30 we board the bus for the trip back to Prague. It's our last night in this gorgeous town and I wish we had more time. Marlene and I go out to dinner at a local Czech restaurant and then return to our hotel, The Imperial, to pack as we leave early for Dresden in the morning.
That was a beautiful city and you got some amazing shots! That salad sounds so yummy.
