Off to Paros

Today we have breakfast at one of our favourite places in Naxos.  Just around the corner from our villa.

The staff were so friendly and the food was good. There weren’t too many places open at 7:30 am.  We had to be at the port by 9:00 as our ferry to Paros left at 9:30.

Arriving in Paros.  Picture was through the very dirty window of the ferry.  :)

We are met at the port and transported to our hotel, the Akrotiri Hotel which is located on the hillside above Parikia.  Beautiful views from our room.

We walk into town which takes about 45 minutes.

Always magnificent churches.

We go into Old Town which is a labyrinth of alleys.  Not busy at all.  They say the season is just starting.

This is a Frankish Castle.  Built in 1260 AD by the Venetian Duke of Naxos with architectural building materials from ancient buildings that existed on the hill and the lower city where the ancient town of Paros extended.

The entrance to the Monastery of Saint Agios Anargyrolis.

The original was built 700 AD.
