Life at Home

The grandkids are so busy with their different activities.  I try to watch as much as I can.

Landon at his swimming lessons...he says the pool is too cold...he's shivering by the time we make it to the hot tub.

Harper in his Sekeido class...learning some smooth moves.

Nice evening down at the water at East Beach in White Rock.

Mother's Day was lovely...Mike made eggs Benny...sooo..good and Jamie painted a card for me!  A lovely lily plant was mine to take home!

And then in the afternoon I sat on the beach with Landon, Harper, Paul and Kiara enjoying a coffee.  A lovely Gerbera plant now graces my coffee table!

Ice cream day at Crescent Beach with Jamie...He's wearing it!

Harper has earned his second stripe in Sekeido....he's pretty proud!

Housesit at Eileen's...the garden is beautiful and the weather is great...so enjoying it!

At the Surrey Arts Centre for an art show displaying the different art from the teachers...Jamie was getting bored and in this picture it appears he's flying...he's actually standing on the step behind him.

Teeny making a speech.

These ceramics were done by Teeny...they are so cute!

Teeny, Jamie and Mike in front of Teeny's art.  Well done Teeny!

Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon, Washington

Diane and I decide to head south to Mt. Vernon to check out the tulip festival.  Mt. Vernon is having a street market.

Lots of shops set up...beautiful day to browse!

This has got to be the cutest pet carrier....the dog was very content.

The fields are beautiful...there were some lovely purples and blues but I didn't capture those.

We then head to La Connor...such a pretty town....haven't been here in years!

Great place to shop for antiques!

And of course ice cream!

Day at the beach with the grandsons!

Jamie enjoying a cold one!

And a beautiful evening in White Rock in East Beach.

The Big Island

Sue and I fly over to the Big Island from Kauai.  It only takes about an hour.  The Big Island has been having an unusual amount of rain for this time of year but usually has more sunshine than Kauai.

We're staying at the Waikoloa Beach Resort...It's busier than the Cliffs but just as nice.

Three large pools...none of which are crowded...it's lovely!

As I am standing at the BBQ this is the view I am enjoying!

We visit the Hilton which is just down the road...this place is over the top...amazing but not somewhere I would like to stay.

This is where the dolphins are  For a price you can swim with them.

The décor is very Asian...they cater very much to Japan and China

This resort is so large that they have a train that runs around and you can hop off, hop on.

Regal as a queen....Sue is so at home...we were born to enjoy this level of decadence.

We find the best public beach...Anaeho'omalu Bay..it's amazing!

We even find to Chaise Lounges....Score!!  A little shade, the water right in front...perfect!

And just around the corner we find this great beach side restaurant called the Lava Lava Club.

Back at the Hilton we head over to watch the sunset ceremony.

As the sun sets this fellow runs around lighting all the torches and then blows the conch at the end of the ceremony.

And the end of another lovely day on the Big Island!

Our last night we have dinner at the Lava Lava Club...a perfect finish to a perfect vacation!

Hawaii! Off to Kauai..

I'm barely home 2 weeks when Sue and I head off to Hawaii.  We drive down to Seattle to overnight before flying out on Alaska Air to Kauai.

At the Seattle Airport waiting to board

We've arrived...we're in Princeville and having a bite to eat....it's warm but cloudy.

Ahhh...yes....the roosters of Kauai.  They're everywhere.  We have to fight these guys for space at the counter.

Arriving at Princeville

We're staying at my home resort, the Cliffs in Princeville.  Lovely one bedroom...this is the view from our lanai.  The ocean is in the distance but you can't see it too well from here.

Down in Hanalei the gardens are so lush....there has been quite a bit of rain so everything is so colorful.

We are in Hanalei.  I love this town.

Great place for coffee or a sandwich!

Couldn't resist the mermaid thing!

This is as close as I'm getting to a two piece suit!

Anini Beach...one of my favourites...the water is calm, there's shade if you want it and it's never crowded...beautiful!

So what's a little drizzle?  At least it's warm!

And then the wind started to blow!

But the sunset at the Cliffs was amazing!

Such a great place to grab a snack....some cute shops too!

Down at Poipu this fellow came up to say hi!

Poipu beach... a little stormy but still beautiful!

Sue and I had lunch here on their lovely patio...the flowers are so colorful

Brought my martini glasses from home...our favourite pass time....with a few nibblies!

The Nene bird is the official bird of Kauai'

Drinks on the patio at the St. Regis looking out toward Bali Hai

Sue hanging on in some very strong winds

An nice shot of Bali Hai in the distance

Hanalei Bay Resort is close by The Cliffs

And of course the infamous roosters of Kauai...you hear them at all hours of day and night.

Down in Hanalei we go for dinner and drinks...just have to have a Mai Tai...delicious!

Day before we leave for the Big Island the weather turns beautiful and we finally spend time at the pool at The Cliffs

Gorgeous pool...just one of many.  The grounds really are superb!

We visit Wailua Falls...with all the rain it's really crashing down

We also stop by Gaylord's which is a beautiful sugar plantation...there is a wonderful restaurant here and you can also sample their rum.

Sue and I stop for lunch down in Lihue before we catch our inter island flight over to the Big Island

Ice cold Moscow mule...delicious!
