After picking up the car we drive to Poipu to the Lawai Resort. This was the view from our lanai.
The next morning we go up the road to the shopping mall and have breakfast. Perfect temperature, low 24, high 27 with a breeze.
Our resort..right across the road from the ocean.
The beach across the road. That’s the Beach House Restaurant in the distance.
Strolling the grounds
Spouting Horn Park
It was nice that some sea turtles decided to have a nap on Poipu beach while we were visiting.
We go to the Marriott for cold drinks…beautiful sitting by the beach.
Such beautiful trees.
We shopped a market set up by the Beach House Restaurant. Lovely quality goods.
Baby Beach. It was like our own private beach.
We drive North to Princeville and head to Ke’e Beach but we’re unable to go there as you now need a reservation. So we stop at Ha’ena Beach which is the next beach down the road.
Beautiful rainbow at Ha’ene Beach.
On the way back from Princeville we stop for coffee at the bakery in Kilauea. Cute shopping area with great history since 1892. Beautiful, quality products. Rebuilt after two hurricanes in the 1990’s.
The next day we drive west to Hanapepe. It’s a small town with a few shops and restaurants.
This is the swing bridge in Hanapepe. Originally built in 1911 it connected the town to the lush farmland on the other side of the Hanapepe River.
Great little book store.
This was located in the book store. One stop shop for more than just books.
We stop for the best sandwich and lemonade I have ever had! Delicious! The woman running it was so interesting. She had just been in business for a few months but if I’m back on Kauai I would make sure I make a trip here.
These are the culprits for wake up calls all night long. Doesn’t matter that it’s not morning. They cocka doodle do all night long. There are .5 million of them on Kauai and it’s a big problem.
It’s our last night and we decide to treat ourselves to a night out and a great dinner.
We start with a Mai Tai. Sue had seared scallops and I had fettuccine with half lobster. Coconut crème brûlée for dessert!
The sun sets as we finish our wine. Going home tomorrow. A perfect trip!
