Onward to Tokyo

This morning we leave Nagano and drive through the countryside to reach Lake Yamanaka which is the largest of the Fuji five lakes.  We don’t have a view of Mt. Fuji as it is very cloudy.  The village of Yamanako is cute and is very popular summer retreat.  The lake is nicknamed Swan Lake due to the swans there.

Huge coy fish.

Our ride awaits.

Cruising the lake.

Our fearless leader, JSook.  Awesome tour guide.

Autumn colors are starting.

Mt. Fuji at the 5th station which is as high as we can drive up.  2300m above sea level.

Mt. Fuji was completely covered by cloud and suddenly the cloud moved giving us this stunning picture.  Five minutes later the clouds were back and you couldn’t see a thing. Divine intervention!

Having something to eat….another challenging machine,

This was the specialty.  It’s called the volcano.  It’s rice with curry sauce.  Mt. Fuji is very much a live volcano.  We continue on our way to Tokyo and check into our hotel.  We are here for four nights.
