Sunshine Coast

My sister Sue and I decided to take a little road trip.  We headed off on Tuesday catching the ferry at Horseshoe Bay.  Forty minutes later we pull in to Langdale and drive a few minutes in to Gibsons.  This was the home of the TV show 'The Beachcombers'.
Molly's Reach is where we stop for lunch.
Really tasty and a cold one always goes down well.
It's cloudy but the rain held off.   More conducive to shopping which we do.  Great shop called Swish which I could have gone crazy in.  After about an hour we tear ourselves away and head up the coast to Sechelt.
We continue north and arrive at Ruby Lake where we spent the night in a lovely cottage.
Very picturesque.
This is the lagoon at the Ruby Lake Resort.  We looked out at this from our cottage.
Lots of wood carvings scattered through the property.
So calm and peaceful.
We dined at the Italian restaurant on the property.  Great food and we just walked across this floating bridge back to our cottage when we were done.

Lots of whimsy...so cute!
In the morning we head up to Skookumchuck Provincial Park for a walk in to the Rapids.
There was a little bakery/coffee shop at the entrance to the trail.
So beautiful. The walk is under a canopy of trees and takes approximately one hour to walk in.
Still going strong!

We arrive at the whirl pools just as the tide is rising.  This is a popular place for kayaking however on the day we were there we didn't see any one.  Quite the challenge.
A quick stop at the museum on the way back.
Back in Gibsons we drop in on Christie who was my friend when we were five and lived in Burnaby.  Haven't seen each other for 58 years!  Was great catching up.
Practicing selfies....on the ferry heading back home.  The Sunshine Coast is definitely a place to come back to.
