Weekend in Squamish

Just wanted a get away so decided to go to Squamish. I have driven by Squamish numerous times on the way to Whistler but had never stayed in Squamish and checked it out.

We started our weekend by stopping at Park Royal for a little retail therapy.  Bought a couple of tops then we’re on our way.  Drove the lower route to Horseshoe Bay where we stopped for lunch at Trolls.  Fish n’chips.  The sun is out and it’s beautiful out.

We stop at Shannon Falls and do the short walk in to see the falls.

We then decide to stop at the Sea to Sky gondola.  It’s $53.00 (senior’s rate)!

Great view looking towards Squamish.

The wine was cold and the views amazing.  It’s worth it.

Walking the suspension bridge fortified with wine to help!

Looking back at the patio.

Glorious!

The next day we walk to the Farmer’s Market.

Lots of colourful produce.

And yummy bread.  There was a long line for this vendor.  Sue and I buy peaches from the Okanagan and some spices then head out.

We stop at Alice Lake

It’s raining and a little cold so we don’t stay.  There were some kids in the water but it must have been freezing!

Then we arrive at Whistler and go to the Audain Museum.  What a beautiful building.

A beautiful piece with a clear message.

More messages about clear cut logging.

Monet’s Garden.

We walk around the Whistler Village and have lunch then head back to Squamish.

We check out the next day but have breakfast n town and then walk down by the estuary. So quiet and picturesque.  It’s turning into another nice day so we head back.  Along the way we stop in West Vancouver to see our old childhood home on Benbow.  Memories!

Weekend in Delta biking

On the Labour Day weekend I met my bike buddy, Sharon in Tsawwassen at the Eagle’s Rest to move into our Glamping accommodation.

It looks pretty comfortable….until the rains come!

The property is very nice.  Lots of whimsical pieces.

We quickly drop our things and grab our bikes to go for a ride before the predicted rain starts.

This old boat was just down the road..

We get about an hours ride in when the rain starts so it’s back to the tent to get the bikes out of the rain.  We decide to go for dinner (to get warm and dry) and then an early night so that we can get a good start in the morning.

Riding along the dyke. We started by the causeway to the ferry and head towards River Road.

Good looking bikes!

We’ve been warned!  Heading to Westham Island

We had to stop at this farm and have ice cream

We ride in to Ladner and stop at Sharkey’s for a beer and something to eat out on the patio.

Our day comes to an abrupt end when Sharon gets a flat!  Luckily there was a mobile unit that came to our rescue and the bike was repaired that night and returned to us the following morning.

 Awesome sunset that evening.

We ride to a new area called Southlands where we stop for an iced coffee.  Here we find a bike station complete with a hoist, pump and tools.  Doggies have their own water fountain.

Then on to Boundary Bay and ride the dyke for a while.

Centennial Beach.  Busy day with the good weather.

Beautiful day.  Time to head back.  Put a few kilometres on this weekend.
