Cathedral of Seville

We are visiting the main cathedral.

The main altar.  Lots of gold leaf.

Burial site of Christopher Columbus.  Our guide told us there was just his small finger that was positively identified through DNA.  Apparently he was in pieces after his death.

Christopher Columbus’s son is also buried at the cathedral.  Apparently he was a successful lawyer.

And then after lunch we head to Cordoba.

Seville

Today we take a walking tour of Seville.

Lovely hotel in Seville.

We start at the Plaza de Espana

Maria Luisa Park

Royal Alcazar Gardens

Aqueduct

Heading to Seville

Today we are heading to Seville.  We will stop at Tavira on the way.

Tavira is a lovely quiet town.

We stop at an Irish pub for lunch.

Then we pass over the river from Portugal to Spain.  Change the clocks by one hour.

When we arrive in Seville we head out to explore.  Much warmer here.

As the evening approaches the city comes alive.

You can stop to buy some sliced ham, cheese, wine!

Or gelato!  No shortage of gelato.

Time to head back to the hotel.  Another busy day tomorrow.

Cascais and Sintra

In the afternoon we go to Cascais on our way to Sinatra

Cascais is beautiful.  We will be coming back here for two nights at the end of our trip.

We then head to Sintra to visit the Peña Palace from the 15th century.

Chandelier from Venice

Elaborate ceilings. 27 swans representing the age of their daughter as she was thought to be too old to marry.

View from Peña Palace.

An easier way to tour the town.

Charming narrow pathways with lots of shops.
