Trip to Saltspring Island

Off to Saltspring Island to visit Richard and Susan.  Have to see their new home.

Leaving Tsawassen Terminal.  Gorgeous day.  So busy.  First attempt to catch ferry was foiled because there was no where to park my car.  I was going as foot passenger and the lot was full!  Had to drive home, park my car and take the bus.  Finally made it by 5:30 by going via Victoria.

I've arrived and am welcomed with a glass of wine.  Susan, Yvonne and Ernie pick me up at the harbour.

The next day we're off to the winery for a picnic.

Weekend up the Arm..

Kathy and I head off on a Saturday afternoon to motor up the Indian Arm from Deep Cove.  Kathy's got the boat all ready.  It's called the Moondancer.  We push off and slowly go out of the cove.  The weather is beautiful and the water is like glass.

We ended up with a great place at the outstation. We had a lovely view out the back and that night the stars were amazing!  We barbecued steak and the wine flowed very freely.

The next day all the sail boats left which freed up a lot of space.  There had been a regatta the day before so when we arrived there was hardly any space to tie up.

Time to unwind

Now that the tour is finished we watch as everyone in our group departs for home.  We relax with our morning coffee and discuss what we are going to do over the next couple of days.  We bid Myriam good bye.

And then we depart for Naples for our flight to London, then home.

Off to Amalfi

Last day to get up early for a tour.  This is actually a late start of 9:00 am.  The bus picks us up and we head out along the Amalfi coast.  Beautiful views.

These little cars are quite popular and you can see why.  They fit in small spaces however it must be tricky for a large person to get in to it.

Capri

Today it's another early day.  How we long for a sleep in and time to linger over our morning coffee!  We must make the most of it so off we go for a day on Capri.  We get picked up by bus and taken to the port to catch the fast ferry to Capri.

They have to use a smaller bus to go to the port in order to negotiate the narrow roads and hairpin turns.

This fast ferry is quite fast and smooth.  It only takes 20 minutes to reach Capri.

We go on a chairlift from Anna Capri (the upper part of the island).  This is 13 minutes of quiet bliss.  Beautiful views and only the sounds of birds and smell of jasmine to keep you company.

Then back down to the lower part of Capri island.  The narrow twisting streets are really something to negotiate and the drivers are very used to it.  It's still heart stopping at times.  This is a photo of the firehall.  Tiny trucks as that's all that can fit.

After returning from our day on Capri we head off for a welcome dinner at Hotel Christina which is our hotel's sister hotel.

Magnificent appetizers.  This could be dinner but there are a lot more courses to come.
